CCR For My Music Video

Image
I hoped that you enjoyed my music video just as much as I enjoyed creating it! This project was more challenging than the last, but I am glad to be learning and progressing more. Without further ado, let's reflect on the production of my music video.   1. How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues? The conventions that are used in the R&B genre can vary depending on the artist. In my music video, I used and challenged the conventions of the R&B genre. As I researched the specifics of the category, I observed that most of the videos I watched told a story throughout them. The storylines usually spoke on the aspects of relationships, heartbreak, love, and so forth. In the music video for Independent Women, this convention was challenged as the women empowered other women by expressing how capable we are and how successful we can become without men. I made sure to maintain this convention throughout my project by c...

My Music Video

The moment you've been waiting for is finally here. My music video has come at last! I hope that you are excited to see how all of my ideas came to fruition. From the research up until the last moments of editing, I had so much fun working on this project. I was finally able to experience what it feels like to be in the film instead of just solely directing this time. I deeply appreciate my family for helping me because filming was not as easy as they made it look in my previous project. I was very anxious when anyone else besides myself was in charge of recording because I feared it would not turn out the way I planned. But my family did an amazing job keeping up with my high demands and did not become discouraged during the filming process. I managed to put everything I learned from the commercial project into good use during this project. In the commercial project, I learned the importance of each step in the filmmaking process. I also learned how to be more open-minded and pati...

Editing Blog: The Green Screen That Intervned

While editing my music video, I had a lot more fun than I expected. Editing is still one of my favorite aspects when it comes to creating my projects. I believe that I improved a good amount since I edited my commercial. From editing my commercial, I realized that you should always keep how you will end up editing in mind as you film. I could not help but to think about editing due to my constant fear of the shots not matching up with the music. I ended up strictly planning out how I would avoid these scenarios between and on the days I filmed. Although this was time-consuming and tedious, I think that this heavily contributed to the success of my editing. By taking the time out to plan each gesture and put it in sync with the lyrics, I was not only able to edit smoothly but film faster than I normally would. I will definitely be utilizing this method in the future to ensure a well-organized process of filming and editing. I edited the music video on my phone and exported it onto my co...

Filming Blog Part 2: The Setbacks Were Nothing Compared To Our Comeback

Image
To my surprise, my aunt did not recover from her sickness fully to the point where she felt comfortable being filmed. As a result, I had to enact my back up plan and stand in the gap for her role. At first, I was a little frustrated because we had to refilm all of the scenes which she was previously apart of. It felt like all of the hard work we put into those shots simply meant nothing because I could not utilize them. Regardless of this complication, I kept my head up high and preserved during the process of reshooting. It all went really smoothly because my other two actors were already familiar with what they had to do and with the timing. My cousin also contributed to the success of the reshoot. I am so grateful that my cousin was so eager to help once she heard about our problem. My cousin offered up not only herself as help but her tripod so that the filming would be steady and look more professionally done. Within no time we were able to film these scenes over and perfect all t...
