Hello, my name is Serena Nixon and I am 16 years old. I enjoy listening to music, sewing, and painting when I get the chance. I am in the eleventh grade at Fort Lauderdale High School. After I graduate high school, I plan on attending college and going to medical school to become a dermatologist. My other goals are to open my own office and start my own skincare line of products. Now enough talk about me. Let's talk about why I wanted to take this course in the first place. For as long as I can remember, I have always been interested in all aspects of media. Whether it be how ideas were brought into fruition or how it is executed, I always found myself to be fascinated by it. Every time I watch a movie or TV show, I am constantly thinking about how scenes are edited and why particular songs were chosen to go with those scenes. Back in 2018 when the Marvel movie Blank Panther came out I remember being utterly captivated by it. The movie was all I talked about for a while. Everything from the costumes to the CGI caused me to go on a long session filled with research. I wanted to find out how the directors were able to put together and portray their story flawlessly. When doing the research, I realized that the process of creating a movie interested me more than I thought. Last year when I found out there was a course that touched on those aspects, I was very excited. On top of that, it turned out to be a Cambridge course, so I was even more eager to add the class to my schedule. I heard nothing but great things from other students who have taken media studies. Even some of my friends recommended that I take the class because it would suit me well. I am very confident that this course won't bring me any disappointment. Through this course, I hope that I will further my understanding of film and media. That's all the time we have for today. I hope to see you next time!
