Introduction to the Music Video Project

Hello, I am finally back with another project which I am incredibly excited to share with you. It is a music video project! For this project, I chose to work by myself. I made this choice not only because of the pandemic, but because I believe that I work my best alone. Due to the pandemic, it would be challenging to work with other people because of the social distancing measures. In addition to that, I always find it hard in a group to sync schedules, this usually ends up in the prolongation of the project. But regardless of that, I wanted to work alone so that I could reach my greatest level of creativity. When you are working with a partner or partners, your creativity can be somewhat limited since you have to agree on one idea when there will be many. This can cause unnecessary conflicts throughout the production of the project. I believe working alone is the best decision for me since I will get to portray my own ideas and have control over the project. When it came to selecting a song, I had no trouble coming up with a plethora of ideas. When I ran the ideas past my family, that is when my mother, aunt, and sister all volunteered to be apart of it. Honestly, I was shocked about how eager they were to be apart of my project. We then all sat down together and sorted through the songs I picked out. That is when almost instantly my mother and I made eye contact and said "Destiny's Child". Destiny's Child was a girl group that included Beyonce Knowles, Kelly Rolland, and Michelle Williams. My aunt and sister were on board and we all agreed that it would be suitable. Finally, we decided on the song 'Independent Women". We chose this song because we had all felt inspired by it and related deeply to it the most. This song is empowering and emphasizes the empowerment of women throughout it. It promotes strength, positivity, and most importantly independence. In society, women are often viewed as being less than men and that they need a male to be successful. Destiny's Child rejects this idea throughout the song and replaces those ideas with positivity and determination. The song is filled with positive affirmations that let the women and girls who are listening know they do not have to depend on anyone for anything. The lyric "I depend on me" is repeated throughout the entire song which represents the message of being able to be independent and successful. I am eager to begin working on this project and I can't wait for you to see how I use all of my creativity to portray the song. I'll see you next time!
