My Pitch

Pitch #1:Two strangers cross paths never expecting to see one another again, but what happens when they appear in crucial parts of each other lives, through a dream version of reality that has consequences, and have to take turns saving each other from disastrous events to transpire. Will these strangers be able to save each other?

Pitch #2: The people around her are disappearing one by one and when they return they look like the people who were once there but acted out of the ordinary. Who are these new people, were there people to even begin with, or was it all in her head?

When I first heard about the project the first pitch came to mind naturally as I enjoy movies and shows that incorporate alternate realities that end up playing into reality. The second pitch came about as I began to think deeper and explore the suspenseful aspect of the thriller genre further. This genre is among some of my favorites so I knew that I wanted my pitches to reflect the characteristics of it. The ideas for the film were not challenging to come up with. Both of these options are within what I believe I am capable of creating. But, as it came down to decide which one I would go with for my final task, is when it got complicated. I became deeply interested in the different scenarios I could portray with these two options. But I began to narrow down between the two of them as I evaluated how clearly I could convey the storyline in two minutes. This is when I began to doubt my second pitch. I started to think about the cause of these disappearances and I couldn't see anything besides kidnappings taking place. I wanted to incorporate kidnapping because it would be interesting to film. But after much thinking, I do not think that I can add anything new to a kidnapping scenario that someone has not already done before. I wanted to save the pitch, but I ended up eliminating it because I could not think of anything to replace the concept of kidnappings that I could effectively film and direct. Don't get me wrong, the first pitch is not completely perfect and there is room for uncertainty. For example, I questioned how I would be able to differentiate clearly between the two realities. But I figured as I map out film more I would be able to overcome this problem compared to a film that has some mediocracy to it.

As a result, I decided to go with pitch #2 for the final task and I believe that this is the best option of the two. I can not wait to get into more detail and start planning out how I will film this movie! I am excited to share this process with you. See you next time!
