My Commercial

My commercial is finally here! I know you're just as excited as I am to see the final product. I had a great time doing this project. Even though I was frustrated at times, this project has taught me a lot. I learned how important it is to make a schedule, to have a backup plan, and to be patient. The biggest lesson I learned from this was that just because one scene does not turn out how you envisioned it, it is not the end of the world. While I was filming and editing, I noticed how hard I was being on myself to make everything as perfect as it was in my mind. I realized that this mindset hindered my ability to be creative and spontaneous. After I accepted the fact that everything wouldn't turn out how I envisioned it, I could come up with better ideas. These new ideas helped me produce a commercial that was far beyond what I ever imagined it would be. Each aspect that went into making the film was special to me in its own way. From researching to watching a bunch of commercials to drawing what my commercial would look like, I appreciated them all in different ways. Without a doubt, I can say that I thoroughly enjoyed the filmmaking process. But, editing was the most fun for me. I was able to showcase some new techniques I learned from the software and try new editing styles. I am very happy with the way I edited this project. I can not wait to use what I have learned and improve upon my skills so that I can edit even better in the next project. Overall, I think I did a good job on this project. However, there is always room for improvement in every area. If I could have done something differently, I would have had my brother playing more sports and utilize a variety of different angles. I also would have included another person, besides my brother, in the commercial to make it feel more realistic. Most importantly, I would have been more open-minded from the beginning until the end. With all things considered, I have learned a lot from this project and I hope to put all of this new knowledge to good use in my next project. I hope you enjoyed my commercial. See you next time!
