Planning Storyboard for my Music Video

The First Scene

In the first scene of my music video, I will start by panning the camera to show a male teacher teaching the women why they need men. To make this idea even more straightforward I will title the board he is teaching from "Why Women Need Men 101".  The location of this scene and further scenes will take place in an office setting.

The Second Scene

For the second scene, I will film the women sitting at their table listening to what he is saying with a confused expression on their faces as they look at each other. During this scene, there will be props like notebooks, folders, pencils, and pens for notetaking on the table.  I will use a medium shot when filming them to effectively show my subjects and to portray how they are feeling at that moment.

The Third Scene

In the third scene, I will cut back to the man and the board he is teaching from. I chose to do this so that I could add the element of cutaway when I edit my music video. I will pan the camera again as I am filming the contents of the board.

The Fourth Scene

During the fourth scene, the women will be shown sitting at the table once again. This time, they will be looking at pictures of women who were independently successful. In the song Independent Women, the artists mention the name of 3 women who did just that. They will begin to discuss with one another and then suddenly have an epiphany. They will realize that they too are capable to be independent and that they don't need a man to survive.

The Fifth Scene

For the fifth scene, the teacher will be shown upset and frustrated after he sees the women talking amongst themselves. To emphasize this anger, he will tap the pointer to the board continuously as he talks hoping to gain their attention.

The Sixth Scene

In this scene, one of the women will raise their hand and hold up the picture of their independent woman. Simultaneously, the lyrics of the song will proceed to say "question". The lyrics then go on explaining different scenarios and asking for the opinion of the audience, but in my case, it is the opinion of the man. The lyrical scenarios will attack all that the teacher was instilling and desiring for the women. With this breakthrough, the ladies will begin to explain to him how strong women are and what they can and already are doing independently.

The Seventh & Eight Scene

During this scene, the lyrics " I buy my own diamonds and I buy my own rings" will be playing. For this part, I will show each of the women individually showing off the jewelry that they paid for. This will also be the first scene where I utilize the green screen to replace the background behind them. For the eight scene, I will show the teacher angrily pacing back and forward in front of his board as the women are rebelling against his teachings.

The Ninth & Tenth Scene

At the beginning of the next chorus in the song, the lyric "question" is repeated once again. In this scene, I will show the women sitting back in the office setting. This time all of them will be raising their hand, instead of one, for this scene. In the tenth scene, I will film the women using the greenscreen once again. The lyrics during this scene list out many items which the women said they bought themselves. I will film them using an assortment of medium and close-up shots to highlight those points.

The Evelenth & Twelth Scene

In the eleventh scene, the teacher will be shown even more furious than before as the women continue on with their arguments. During this scene, the lyric "I depend on me" will be playing and I will film the ladies confidently pointing to themselves as they say this line. In the last scene, I will show the women raising their arms in sync as the lyric " throw your hands up at me" plays. I will utilize my greenscreen again when filming this part to visually show the power of their message as the song fades out.
