Preparing to Film my Final Task: The Filmsite Preparation & Precautions
In my last blog I established who my actors would be, the costumes they would wear, and the props that would be used. Pertaining to the actors, I came to the decision that I would use less of my immediate family. By my immediate family, I mean the family that I live with and see on an everyday basis. In order to switch things up, I reached out and confirmed with other family members to be apart of the production. But with this came the problem of where we would film the movie. Specifically being which one of our homes would we film in. To take into consideration and ensure the comfort of all of my actors we voiced different concerns and solutions. It did not take a long time for us to come to a conclusive decision. Since I had already planned my storyboard around the way in which my house is constructed, everyone agreed that there should be no reason to change the location of the home. I am extremely glad that they are willing and have no problem with filming in my house with the current situation. But in concurrence with the pandemic, the concern over everyone's health was brought up. This problem was soon met with many solutions as we began to discuss how we would stay safe while filming. In terms of social distancing, there are no scenes within the house where two people are within six feet of one another. To further increase and guarantee our safety, I will wear a mask as I film within a safe distance from the actors. My family and I also agreed that we would clean and sanitize the house before and after each filming date. This includes sanitizing and wiping down all surfaces like tables, doorknobs, chairs, and more. Due to the fact that there will be scenes where the actors will need to lay in bed, we will also need to launder the bedding each day. Additionally, we will need to sanitize and spray down the mattresses and bed frames after each film day. Whilst this may sound extreme or excessive, the health of my family is very important to me during this time. I would hate for anybody's health to be compromised because I did not do all that I could to ensure our safety. As I make ready and come closer and closer to when I will start filming, I have begun to clean and organize the rooms where the filming will take place. There are only a few more things that I need to do to thoroughly prepare for the production of my film. Please continue to stay tuned!
